How can you extend the wear time of hair extensions?

How can you extend the wear time of hair extensions?

So, now you have beautiful, long, eye-catching hair. Many things will be different from now on, especially the way you care for your lovely hair.

Remember that your new hair requires special, gentle care. It is important to keep in mind that, unlike natural living hair, hair extensions do not receive nourishment from the scalp. This means their appearance depends directly on proper, regular care and the cosmetic products you use.

Care for hair extensions

  1. Gentle cleansing and protection of the bonds

First and foremost, this means using shampoos without harsh sulphates such as SLS and SLES. Sulphates strip moisture from hair extensions, causing them to quickly become dry and straw-like.

It is also important to use shampoos without silicones, as silicones can get onto the attachment points and cause the extensions to start slipping.

  1. Intensive moisturising and nourishment

Hair extensions are prone to dryness, so they need extra hydration and care. A light Ayluna oil with argan oil is ideal for this.

Ayluna Haircare is an excellent choice for hair extensions

The natural cosmetics brand Ayluna offers a wide range of products for gentle haircare, suitable for use with hair extensions. Ayluna formulas work very delicately: mild surfactants remove impurities, precious plant oils nourish the hair and enhance shine, while carefully selected botanical extracts help improve the condition of the scalp.

Ayluna products do not damage the connection points between natural hair and extensions. In addition, all products from this brand are organically certified.

A few practical recommendations for caring for hair extensions

Washing your hair

Both Ayluna  Ghassoul and Ayluna shampoos are suitable for washing hair extensions. It is recommended to wash your hair in an upright position without tipping your head forwards, as this helps prevent tangling.

The water should be warm, but not hot: high temperatures can damage both the hair structure and the bonds. Shampoo should be gently distributed over the scalp, allowing the foam to run down the lengths of the hair. Ayluna conditioner is an excellent product for nourishing the lengths.

Brushing

Hair should be brushed at least three times a day. A special brush with straight bristles and no balls on the ends is recommended. Start by brushing and detangling the ends, applying Ayluna leave-in oil if needed. Then gradually work your way upwards from the ends.

It is best to avoid touching the attachment points of the extensions while brushing. Wet hair should not be brushed.

Before going to bed

Before sleep, hair should be completely dry and thoroughly brushed, then gathered into a loose braid or a relaxed ponytail. This will help prevent tangling.

A natural silk pillowcase is recommended, as it reduces friction and lowers the risk of hair damage. Another excellent option is a silk sleep cap, which not only protects the hair but also helps prevent excessive dryness.

External factors

Sun, sea salt and chlorine can have a damaging effect on hair extensions. After swimming in the sea or in a pool, the hair should be rinsed with clean water. To protect your hair from the sun, wear a wide-brimmed hat.

Regular maintenance

Regular maintenance appointments are an essential part of caring for hair extensions. Depending on the speed of your hair growth, maintenance may be required every 6–8 weeks.

Maintenance not only restores the aesthetic result, but also reduces the strain on the roots, which occurs when the attachment points shift as the natural hair grows out.

The fashion for long, well-groomed hair worn loose gives a noticeable advantage to those naturally blessed with thick, high-quality hair. However, women with fine or short hair did not want to miss out on the trend either — and for them, a breakthrough solution was created: hair extensions.

Isn’t it a miracle? One visit to a beauty salon and you can already enjoy a luxurious mane that would otherwise take years to grow. Initially, this procedure was considered something “for the stars”: few specialists knew how to perform it, and the cost was quite high.

Today, hair extensions are no longer a privilege reserved for celebrities, and the market offers a wide variety of extension methods.
