The many benefits of baby massage
More and more parents are giving their babies a gentle massage — and with good reason. A massage offers many benefits: it helps your baby transition more smoothly between wakefulness and sleep, and it strengthens the bond between parent and child.
There are many other positive effects as well — we’ve listed them all in our blog ‘The Benefits of Baby Massage’.
The most important thing for a calm and enjoyable massage is taking your time. Make sure you’re relaxed and unhurried before you begin. That way, both you and your baby can fully enjoy the moment.
To give a good massage, it’s also important to use a high-quality massage oil — one that doesn’t absorb too quickly, but also doesn’t sit heavily on the skin. This allows your hands to glide smoothly while maintaining a gentle grip.
How to use
Make sure the room is comfortably warm. Place a large, soft towel on the bed (and keep a spare one nearby, just in case). Warm the oil by rubbing a small amount between your hands, then gently massage it into your baby’s skin.
For step-by-step instructions on how to give a baby massage, see our Baby Massage Guide.

FAQs
All ingredients utilized in the product range are of natural origin, derived from plants, flowers, and herbs.
They are completely free from:
Petroleum-derived ingredients
Parabens & paraffins
Silicones
PEG ingredients
Synthetic fragrances, preservatives, or colorings
All of the ingredients in the Petit&Jolie range are naturally sourced, and select ingredients are grown organically. Officially, a skincare product can only be designated as organic if all of its ingredients are natural, unprocessed, and sourced directly from certified organic farming.
Almost the entire range is vegan-friendly.
The only two non-vegan exceptions are:
Baby Diaper Cream
Calendula Balm
These products contain beeswax and lanolin, which are used to help moisturize delicate skin and create a protective, water-repellent barrier.
No, they do not have a fixed expiration date. However, once a product has been opened, it is best to use it within 6 months, as exposure to oxygen after opening can gradually affect the overall quality of natural formulations.
Yes, they can. Because the products are made from natural botanical ingredients, a rash or skin irritation can still occur if a child or adult has a specific allergy to one of those natural components. It is always recommended to check the INCI ingredients list on the packaging prior to use.
Applying the bath oil directly to the skin is not recommended. The Baby Bath Oil is formulated with a very rich emulsion that behaves similarly to honey, meaning it will feel quite thick, greasy, and syrupy if applied directly to dry skin.
If you are looking for a product to apply directly to the skin or use for a calming baby massage, the Baby Massage Oil is recommended instead.
Both of these products share the exact same function: to promote skin elasticity and support blood circulation to minimize the risk of stretch marks (striae).
The primary difference lies in their texture:
Pregnancy Oil: Absorbs into the skin faster for a lightweight finish.
Belly Balm: Provides a richer, deeply nourishing barrier that lingers longer on the skin.
