Natural Deodorants

Natural Deodorants

Modern manufacturers offer a variety of deodorants in different formats (sticks, sprays, roll-ons) and textures (gels, aerosols, creams, crystals). To find the most suitable option for yourself, it's best to try several products from different brands. An important quality indicator is eco-certification, which means that the product does not contain critical ingredients (mineral oils, parabens, and other preservatives with irritating potential, and potential allergens such as dyes and fragrances) and is produced without harming the environment.

Typical Requirements for a Deodorant:

- Pronounced deodorizing effect
- Natural composition
- Gentle care without skin irritation
- No residue on clothing

Mass-market deodorant-antiperspirants often contain aluminum salts, which significantly narrow the sweat gland ducts and practically block sweat secretion. This hinders the normal detoxification process because up to 50% of toxins are eliminated from the body through sweat glands. Typically, synthetic fragrances are also included in the composition of conventional deodorants, many of which can trigger allergic reactions.

Natural Deodorants:

Natural deodorants contain natural antibacterial components, such as essential oils and plant extracts. Bacteria multiply quickly on moist armpit skin, and their metabolic products create an unpleasant odor. The role of a deodorant is to inhibit this process. For example, organic acid salts, such as citric or lactic acid, are often used. They alter the acidity of the epidermis to create an unfavorable environment for bacteria.

The most effective natural deodorants are those that contain alcohol – upon application to the skin, it instantly destroys the cell walls of unwanted bacteria. Alcohol also lightly dries the skin, reducing sweat production. Additionally, the rapid evaporation of alcohol enhances the sensation of cool freshness. In certified natural cosmetics, alcohol is often derived from wheat grown in organic fields.

Considerations for Sensitive Skin:

Deodorants with alcohol may not be suitable for sensitive skin or immediately after shaving. In these cases, products with plant extracts, which have antibacterial and astringent properties, are the optimal choice. Deodorants with sage extract, in particular, yield excellent results: it is rich in tannins and slightly narrows the openings of sweat glands, reducing sweat production.

Examples of Natural Deodorants:

- Speick Aktive Deo Spray: This deodorant features sage extract, providing antibacterial and astringent properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin.

- Speick Natural Aktive Deo Roll-On: This roll-on deodorant contains ferment from saccharomyces, a modern natural ingredient with a deodorizing effect. It is obtained through the fermentation of plant raw materials by yeast-like fungi. The active enzymes from saccharomyces bind volatile, unpleasant-smelling substances, forming non-volatile, odorless derivatives. They are complemented by cornstarch, a gentle plant-based absorbent. In addition to controlling sweat odor, it moisturizes, softens, and prevents irritation.

Additional Ingredients for Skin Care:

Gentle moisturization is achieved through the use of aloe and reed extracts. Thermal water with silicon is excellent at soothing irritated skin areas.

Speick Thermal Sensitiv Deo Stick: This stick deodorant is ideal for use immediately after shaving, enriched with plant wax and free of fragrances.

Choosing the Right Format:

- Morning Use: Spray or roll-on deodorants are optimal after a shower, leaving the skin refreshed and surrounding the body with a natural fragrance.
- On-the-Go: A lightweight stick deodorant is practical to carry with you.
- Post-Shaving: Fragrance-free sticks enriched with plant wax are ideal for immediate use after shaving, providing comfort and preventing irritation.
