The yam Dioscorea batatas is characterized by long, white roots. They are known as a vegetable and are becoming increasingly popular as a food supplement. The neutral-tasting root flesh is said to be able to store a particularly large amount of light. The absorption of light energy through food is highly valued in Indian/Asian nutritional teachings.

For Sanatur yam, the variety Dioscorea batatas is cultivated, which is also called light root. It is one of the few varieties that can also be consumed in raw food quality. Sanatur Lichtwurzel thrives in the mild climate of the Lake Constance region on a biodynamic organic farm. In specially made large boxes, the roots can grow well there and be harvested carefully.
