Dry skin of the face and body

Dry skin of the face and body

Signs:

  • Uneven dull skin surface, peeling.
  • Redness and irritation in response to heat or cold.
  • Tightness may be felt after washing
  • Visible pores.

Dry skin loses elasticity, its barrier functions are reduced.

Causes:

  • reduced activity of the sebaceous glands,
  • deficiency of moisture and epidermal lipids,
  • accelerated renewal of the epidermis, which leads to peeling.

All this can occur due to genetic characteristics or age-related changes, as well as under the influence of heat or frost, aggressive cosmetics.

Dietary factors: lack of healthy fats in the diet, strict diets or fasts, radical veganism.

Solution:

  • hydration of the epidermis,
  • restoration of the lipid barrier with valuable natural lipids,
  • cosmetics should not damage the protective mantle, which causes moisture loss, overdrying and irritation of the skin.

Most often, cosmetic products for dry skin include such ingredients as:

  • moisturizers - substances whose molecules bind water molecules well: plant polysaccharides of aloe gel, algae extracts (Alaria esculenta, Pelvetia canaliculata etc), glycerin, urea, betaine.
  • nutritive compounds which can repair skin barrier and protect skin from water loss: avocado oil,  cocoa butter, shea butter, cupuacu oil, argan oil, rosehip seed oil,  lanolin, squalane.
