EVOÉ – Swiss Precision & Science for the next generation of Grape-based Anti-Aging Skincare

EVOÉ – Swiss Precision & Science for the next generation of Grape-based Anti-Aging Skincare

Grape-based skincare is one of the fastest-growing segments in the Clean Beauty industry—and for good reason. Grapes are a true superfood for the skin, naturally rich in powerful antioxidants such as resveratrol, polyphenols, and vitamins C and E. These bioactive compounds are associated with helping to preserve collagen, protect the skin from urban stress, and deliver effective hydration without clogging pores.

What Makes EVOÉ Truly Different?

Pure grapes grown with minimal chemical treatment are used.

It is well known that grapes cultivated on an industrial scale are often subjected to repeated chemical treatments to protect the plants from disease. In 1996, however, Swiss researchers developed a unique red grape variety called Divico, bred specifically for its exceptional natural resistance to common fungal threats. Thanks to this resilience, Divico grapes can be grown with significantly reduced chemical intervention.

Extracts from Divico grapes are known for their particularly high antioxidant capacity (ORAC)—a laboratory method commonly used to compare antioxidant potential. While ORAC values serve as comparative indicators rather than clinical claims, they illustrate the strong antioxidant profile of this grape variety, which exceeds that of many widely used botanical antioxidants.

The “Three Suns” of the Lavaux Vineyards

The quality of grapes—and their concentration of bioactive compounds—depends greatly on growing conditions. Grapes thrive in sunlight, and few regions offer conditions as exceptional as the Lavaux vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva.

Here, solar energy is naturally amplified by what winemakers call the “three suns”:

  • direct sunlight,
  • reflected light from the lake,
  • and heat stored in the stone terraces, released during the night.

These south-facing vineyards create a unique microclimate that allows grapes to develop remarkable vitality and richness. The Lavaux wine terraces are so exceptional that they are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

EVOÉ Innovations in Grape-Based Skincare

In Evoé skincare, the Swiss laboratory NaturAlps uses grape extracts and grape seed oil derived from Divico grapes grown on the sun-drenched Lavaux terraces. Grape seed oil is naturally rich in polyphenols and skin-compatible fatty acids that support comfort and nourishment.

The grapes are not used “as is.” Instead, they are enhanced through advanced biotechnological processes designed to maximize the bioavailability of their valuable compounds.

Through hyper-fermentation, a highly bioavailable grape extract called Vitisbiosis™ is created, delivering an intensified concentration of polyphenols and other bioactive substances.

Another advanced technology, PhytoCellTec™ Solar Vitis, focuses on cultivating plant stem cells from sun-exposed grapes. These ingredients are developed to support the skin’s resilience against environmental stressors, including UV exposure and premature aging.

Evoé formulations are further enriched with innovative plant-based actives such as:

  • PhytoSpherix™ glycogen derived from corn, known for smoothing and softening the skin,
  • Fucocert®, a marine polysaccharide that helps maintain hydration and skin comfort.

A Story Rooted in History

The grapevine is one of the oldest plants cultivated by humankind. Since ancient times, the grape harvest has been a celebration of life and abundance. In Ancient Greece, it was honored with rituals dedicated to Dionysus, the god of wine, accompanied by music, dance, and the joyful exclamation “Evoé!”

This ecstatic cry later became the name of a new and truly distinctive Swiss skincare brand.

Renowned for its cosmetic innovation, the Swiss company NaturAlps has united ancient traditions of grape-based wellness with modern cellular technologies and a deep respect for one of Switzerland’s most exceptional wine-growing regions. The result is Evoé—a sophisticated line of grape-inspired skincare rooted in both science and heritage.

Grape Antioxidants: Nature’s Defense System

As early as antiquity, grapes were valued for their health-supporting properties. Hippocrates used grapes and wine to support heart health in older age, while the philosopher Plato famously referred to wine as “the milk of the elderly.”

Modern science confirms that red grapes are exceptionally rich in antioxidant compounds—such as polyphenols, bioflavonoids, and proanthocyanidins—which help protect cells from oxidative stress and support the skin’s natural defense mechanisms.

In cosmetic science, grape-derived ingredients are highly prized. Nearly every part of the grape is used in anti-aging skincare formulations: the pulp and skins of the berries, as well as grape seed oil and grape seed powder.
